Blood drives coming to the Southern Tier in August

SOUTHERN TIER, N.Y. ( WETM ) – As summer begins to close, the American Red Cross is hosting more blood drives throughout the Southern Tier in August to maintain the blood supply.

According to the Red Cross, those with type O blood, as well as those who are willing to donate platelets, are especially needed to help keep hospitals in supply throughout the month. Donors of all types are critically needed at all times to meet the demand for blood and platelets for hospitals working to perform life-saving transfusions.

To schedule an appointment to donate, visit redcrossblood.org , call 1-800-REDCROSS or download the Blood Donor app . Those who come to donate from Aug. 1 through Aug. 30 will receive a $20 Amazon gift card by email as a thank-you for donating. Blood drives will take place at the following locations and times:
