The company has done business one way for a long time, but now WWE makes a major change that will benefit Superstars long term.

Historically, Superstars in WWE had their names tied to the company in perpetuity. With few exceptions, the WWE name stayed with the company when the Superstar did not. There were some notable exceptions, like for Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage. But when talent like Diesel and Razor Ramon left, they became Kevin Nash and Scott Hall in WCW. That also gave us the hilariously bad fake Razor and fake Diesel.

    Times are changing

Now, that seems to have changed in a massive way. According to Fightful , WWE has shifted that policy. Talent that used a name prior to WWE and then the same name while in WWE have always been able to keep using it. Like, Adam Cole used his name before he landed in NXT which is why he can also use it in AEW. But, until now, anyone getting a WWE specific name left it behind if and when they leave the company.

Although, according to the report, WWE will own the trademarks during their time in WWE. But, if and when the company and Superstar part ways, the former Superstar will retain ownership. WWE might have filed a trademark for Ethan Page, and they will own and control it for however long Page is in WWE. But, whenever that time comes to an end, the ownership of the trademark goes to Page.

It’s a major change in how things are done within WWE. Honestly it is nice to see, and perhaps this is another change that will go over well with talent. After all, changing something to benefit Superstars has to be a positive. So, do you think the WWE change benefit Superstars?
