Costco's Sleek New Food & Water Bottle for Dogs Is a Total Must-Have

Costco might be where you go when you need to buy five founds of maraschino cherries or a bag of dog food big enough to feed a small canine army, but nobody goes to Costco without glancing around at all the real fun stuff. You never know what you're going to find there!

One section of Costco that pet parents find it hard to skip is the pet section: there's always something new there. On Friday, July 19th, one devoted Costco shopper shared Costco's new and very interesting take on a dog food and water bottle. It's definitely worth checking out:

I think @costcoguy4u is truly for the people. He does the hard work of finding all the best deals so we don't have to, and that's something to celebrate!

If I had a dime for every time Costco came out with a new pet item that everybody seemed to want, I'd totally have enough money to stop writing about it. Last week's discovery is a pack of two dog-friendly bottles.

They have a normal spout for humans to drink from, but they also have a detachable dog bowl on the bottom. The brand, Asobu, sells them on their website for $40 a piece at full price - $21.99 for a pack of two is a crazy steal! If needed, you can buy replacement dog bowls from Asobu directly for $11.99!

How to Choose a Travel Dog Bowl

They're not all created equal, believe it or not, and the Asobu option is actually one of the best you can find. Not only is it fully insulated so it'll keep the water colder for longer, but it's human grade. Automatically, that typically means there are fewer harmful chemicals (or, at least, lower levels of them) than whatever the animal-specific alternative is.

More often than not, you'll find that dog bowls meant for travel are collapsible and meant to be easy to store. There are the foldable ones and then, for those who favor convenience , there are some that are a regular water bottle with a lid that doubles as a bowl.

Typically, these bowls are silicone, which is not always ideal - silicone can be porous or manufactured with chemical fillers that can have adverse affects with prolonged exposure. Good quality silicone dog bowls won't have this issue, so just make sure to do your research and invest in a good one!

When shopping for a dog bowl for travel , choose one that:

    1. Is insulated metal, like the ones in this video.
    2. Is made of BPA free, non-porous silicone.
    3. Is at least made of a material that you don't have to worry about shattering (no glass, ceramic etc.,.).

Costco never misses, truly. If you're planning on spending the last month or so of summer with your pup outdoors, these are totally worth investing in!
