FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Fayette County Humane Society has announced that the shelter is currently over capacity with more than 90 dogs, leading to the declaration of a Code Red situation for the organization.

The notice came on Monday after noon, with the Fayette County Humane Society indicating that the shelter is currently 18 dogs over shelter capacity and unable to accommodate any additional animals at the time of writing.

The urgency of the situation has been emphasized, and measures have been taken in an effort to alleviate the number of animals dependent upon the shelter at the present time. These measures include the reducing of adoption fees to $40.00. This covers vaccines, flea and tick prevention, dewormer, and a spay & neuter voucher which additionally includes the rabies vaccine.

“We urgently need your support,” said the Fayette County Humane Society in a statement regarding the code red development. “If you’ve been considering adopting a furry friend , now is the time! By adopting from us, you not only provide a loving home to a dog in need but also help alleviate the overcrowding crisis.”

Those seeking further information on how to adopt or become involved with the FCHS may visit the Fayette County Humane Society Facebook page .
