The 2024 presidential campaign is officially down one candidate as President Joe Biden announced Sunday that he is withdrawing his bid for reelection and has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential nominee.

The 2024 election season is unprecendented.

Between an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, calls for Biden to end his presidential campaign , and just over 100 days until the election, its a high-stakes race.

As Ohio voters prepare to go to the polls on Nov. 5th , here is how to make sure you're registered in time for the 2024 general election.

How do I register to vote in Ohio?

You can register to vote online at olvr.ohiosos.gov . The online voter registration system allows users to both register to vote and update their voter registration address.

What do I need to register to vote in Ohio?

The site will ask you to present information and documents like an Ohio driver’s license or Ohio identification card number, date of birth, address and the last four digits of your Social Security number. Those unable to provide this information should complete a voting update form to send to your county board of elections .

What if I want to register to vote in person?

You can register to vote in person at boards of elections, public libraries, and Bureau of Motor Vehicles locations. Ohio's Secretary of State's website lists other locations that are also available to register, including:

    • The office of the Secretary of State
    • The office of any of the 88 county boards of elections
    • The office of the registrar or any deputy registrar of the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles
    • Public high schools or vocational schools
    • County treasurers' offices

Are there other ways to register to vote?

There is a third option to register by mail. There is a National Mail Voter Registration form available on the Ohio Secretary of State site. You can also request that a county board of elections or the Secretary of State's office mail a voter registration form to you.

When registering by mail, send the application to the county board of elections or the Secretary of State's Office. According to the Secretary of State site, "your application must be postmarked by the voter registration deadline, the 30th day before the election, in order to be eligible to vote in that election." In 2024, Sunday, Oct. 6, is 30 days before the Nov. 5 general election.
