WACO, Texas (FOX 44) – Hundreds gathered at the fourth annual Backpack and School Supply Giveaway hosted by Carlson Law Firm.

The event, aptly titled “Party with a Purpose,” aimed not only to distribute much-needed school essentials but also to foster a stronger bond between the firm and the community it serves.

From early morning, families from across Mclennan County lined up eagerly, snaking around the building and into the parking lot, where the festivities awaited.

The law firm spared no effort in ensuring a memorable day for all attendees.

Upon entering, visitors were greeted with an array of attractions: children delighted in games and activities tailored just for them, while adults savored the opportunity to explore local businesses showcased as vendors, offering everything from crafts to food.

“Every year it’s a big undertaking to try to get something like this done and every year it gets bigger and bigger. So, we try to get more backpacks, more vendors, make it a good time for everybody” said Dominic Braus, attorney.

The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as local radio stations hosted live broadcasts and handed out prizes.

The firm even offered chances to win a coveted $100 gift card to HEB. The air was filled with music and laughter, punctuated by impromptu dance sessions that brought everyone together.

“I feel like it’s a good opportunity for all the kids, all the parents, single moms and we got regular families out here, too…I think it’s a good thing just to help out and just that it hard to get up because a lot of people don’t have it. So I feel like this is a really good thing to do,” said Shanice Hopkins.

With a target to distribute over 350 backpacks, each compliant with Waco ISD requirements, the firm surpassed expectations, underscoring its commitment to the community’s well-being. Safety remained a top priority throughout, with meticulous planning ensuring a secure environment for all attendees.

As the sun began to set on a day filled with joy and camaraderie, the law firm expressed optimism for the future of the event.

“Carlson law firm does care and that we stand by the motto that we care and we can help, we can help more than just working on people’s cases, but that we can help the community as well,” said Porsche Lockhart, firm manager.

With the fourth installment deemed a resounding success by the firm, hundreds of families left with school supplies and reassurance for the upcoming school year.
