    1 dead, 1 injured in head-on crash in Pickens Co.

    PICKENS COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A head-on crash in Pickens County Monday morning claimed the life of one driver and sent another to the hospital.

    The crash happened on Highway 11 near Sliding Rock Road around 9:10 a.m.

    According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, an SUV and a car were both traveling on Highway 11 when they collided head-on.

    The driver of the car died from their injuries at the scene while the SUV’s driver was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital, troopers said.

    The Pickens County Coroner’s Office identified the driver as 30-year-old Emily Whitten Hafner, of Salem.

    An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday.

    The crash remains under investigation by the Pickens County Coroner’s Office and SCHP.
