Suits Spinoff Officially Picked Up with Arrow Star to Lead

Suits was one of the biggest streaming hits of 2023, being the most-streamed show in any given year, with over 57 billion minutes streamed on Netflix in the US. The legal drama’s resurgence was inevitably going to lead to a spinoff to capitalize on its success, and now we’ve finally got the first details.

NBC officially confirmed that a spinoff of the hit legal drama series is coming at some point in the future, giving a series order to Suits: LA. As the name suggests, the show will be set in Los Angeles, and is being headed up by Aaron Korsh, the creator of the original series.

A pilot for the show was ordered earlier in the year, with the pilot being shot a few months back. It seems like the head suits at NBC were impressed by the pilot, and the series has been picked up — though it’ll be doing so without any of the characters from the original series.

That’s okay, though, as it’s got its own leading man that’s bound to make some waves. Playing the lead role of Ted Black is Stephen Amell, who previously starred in the CW’s Arrow for eight years, kicking off the Arrowverse and a new golden age of superhero TV shows. He’ll be joined by Josh McDermitt, Lex Scott Davis, and Bryan Greenberg.

Amell’s character is a former federal prosecutor from New York who moved to LA to lead a law firm. “His firm is at a crisis point, and to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career,” the logline for the show reads.

Suits first started in 2011 and ran for nine seasons, ending in 2019, two seasons after the departure of Meghan Markle, now the Duchess of Sussex. The show was added to both Netflix and Peacock in 2023, where it immediately became massively popular.

No release date or season has been announced for Suits: LA, but now that it’s been picked up it’s only a matter of time. We’d imagine NBC will want to get it out as soon as possible, so keep an eye out.
