The next Dragon Ball anime is just around the corner, and after the announcement of a Fall release window on Fuji TV in Japan earlier this year, we finally know exactly when you’ll be able to watch it.

On Friday, Bird Studio and Toei Animation – the studios behind Dragon Ball – announced that Dragon Ball Daima will be released in October 2024, just a few short months from now. Alongside the announcement was a new poster and a brand-new trailer, showing off a couple of new characters.

Among the new characters was Glorio, an airship pilot with a neat jacket who seems to be a Core person, like the Supreme Kais. We don’t know exactly what role he’ll play in Daima, but we get the sense that he’ll probably be a good guy — there’s just something about him.

Also introduced is a mysterious masked character known as the Masked Majin, who’s just a little guy but definitely has bad guy vibes to him. The trailer shows that the series seems to be using a mix of 3D animation and traditional 2D animation, and it’s very bright, colorful, and striking, all things you’d want from a new Dragon Ball animation.

Dragon Ball Daima is the last animated Dragon Ball series to be worked on by Akira Toriyama, the creator of the franchise who sadly passed away earlier this year . Toriyama contributed the designs for all of the characters in the anime, and helped write the story.

Daima will see Goku, Piccolo, Vegeta, and many more key characters turned into young versions of themselves through the power of a mysterious entity who always seems to be watching. It seems to exist outside most of the canon of the Dragon Ball series, but that could always change — with Toriyama having contributed to the story, anything is possible.

No streaming platform has been announced for Dragon Ball Daima yet, but fans have been speculating that, like Dragon Ball Super before it, Daima could be shown on Crunchyroll in the west. We’ll just have to wait and see.
