    Congressman Rogers Announces $74,857.14 Federal Funding for Alexandria Volunteer Fire Department

    Washington D.C. – U.S. Representative Mike Rogers (AL-03) announced that the Alexandria Volunteer Fire Department in Calhoun County will receive $74,857.14 in federal funding. This allocation is part of over $915,000 awarded to first responders in East Alabama through the Department of Homeland Security’s FY 2023 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

    The grant program is designed to provide critical support to local fire departments, enhancing the safety of first responders and the communities they serve. Alexandria Volunteer Fire Department’s award will be used to procure essential supplies and equipment, ensuring firefighters can perform their duties effectively and safely.

    “I am proud to announce over $915,000 in federal money is coming to first responders in Alabama’s Third Congressional District,” said Rep. Rogers. “This funding will bring our community’s firefighters essential supplies to perform their duties and ensure their safety.”

    The Alexandria Volunteer Fire Department, a vital part of the Calhoun County community, will use the grant to bolster their operational capabilities, which is crucial for maintaining public safety and emergency response readiness.

    • City of Lincoln: $42,954.28
    • Lay Lake Volunteer Fire Department: $60,071.42
    • City of Moody: $76,190.47
    • Sycamore Volunteer Fire Department: $97,523.80
