Democratic Mega-Donors Pledge Eye-Popping $150 Million in 24 Hours to Support Kamala Harris

Vice President Kamala Harris is going to have more than just her campaign war chest as she hits the ground running.

Politico Playbook included an item on Monday about a massive $150 million commitment by Democratic big-money donors less than a day after she made her candidacy for president official. Politico’s Elena Schneider reported that a senior aide at Future Forward, a super PAC “blessed” by President Joe Biden , told her about the huge fundraising boost that followed Biden’s announcement that he was withdrawing from the race.

The aide told Politico: “Future Forward will continue working to make sure [former President] Donald Trump is defeated in this election and those dangerous consequences are never felt by the American people.”

Future Forward already set aside $250 million for TV and digital advertising this year and had $122 million in cash on hand by the end of June, per Federal Election Commission filings.

Earlier on Monday, the Harris campaign reported that they’d received $49.6 million in grassroots donations in the hours since the announcement. Big donors also indicated that they were ready to open up their wallets after the ticket changed, including screenwriter and producer Damon Lindelof , who declared the end of the “DEMBARGO” after calling on fellow Hollywood types to withhold their donations unless Biden left the race.
