Sometimes online listings are just so insane that you have to stop and stare. And it seems like the older and more unusual the house, the higher the price tag (or is that just us?). Well, TikTok creator Rob Kallick recently showed off a home that hits all those notes—a nearly five million dollar Ray Kappa home that has some people falling in love and others just scratching their heads.

Ray Kappe’s concrete, steel and glass masterpiece 🗿 Back in February 2020 I got a private tour of this house from the owner along with @elizabethdaniels01 on Super Bowl Sunday. A truly great day to finally tour a house I had long known about from photos but had never seen in person. It did not sell back then for reasons I can understand: this does not seem like the easiest house to live in but it sure is beautiful to look at. It’s back again and here’s hoping the perfect buyer snatches it up this time • 762 Latimer Road ($4,995,000) Listed by @mattadamo_la @milsteinestates #raykappe #brutalism #brutalistarchitecture #midcenturymodern

    Who Was Ray Kappe?

Ray Kappe, the architectural wizard behind this concrete marvel, was a big name in the world of architecture. Known for his modernist approach and his ability to blend structures seamlessly with nature, Kappe's designs often left people in awe and asking, "How did he do that?" His style focused on using raw materials like concrete, steel, and glass to create spaces that felt both industrial and inviting.

And voila, this home is the epitome of that style, featuring towering concrete and shining glass. This one-of-a-kind Rustic Canyon architectural home designed by Ray Kappe, FAIA, in 1980, is a stunning achievement and a testament to the integration of residential living space with nature. It is a multi-level home with a striking blend of glass, concrete, and steel that screams sophistication and makes you wonder if you're still on planet Earth.

Throughout the home, multiple balconies and decks invite you to step out and experience nature up close, giving you the feeling of being able to reach out and almost touch the trees. It's an odd experience, especially when combined with the industrial feel of the home itself. But hey, who said you can't have the best of both worlds?

This house is structured into three primary levels, each offering something unique and fabulous. On the first level, there's a versatile work-live area that could serve as your personal office or studio. The tastefully updated kitchen is a culinary dream, perfect for whipping up gourmet meals or just reheating last night's pizza. Three bedrooms offer plenty of space for family or guests, each providing a serene retreat from the world outside.

Of course, the four bathrooms ensure that you'll never have to wait in line for a shower. The living room features a substantial second fireplace, making it an ideal spot for cozy nights in. A family room and a bonus room add even more space for relaxation and entertainment. And let's not forget the pièce de résistance—a curvilinear pool and spa that cantilever from the hillside, making you feel like you're floating in mid-air. Talk about living on the edge!

Whether this nearly $5 million price tag is worth it or not is up to the buyer to decide. Some will see it as an architectural masterpiece, while others might view it as a high-priced enigma. But one thing's for sure—it's a home that captures the imagination and leaves a lasting impression. If you're someone who appreciates the finer, albeit unusual, things in life, this Ray Kappa home might just be the concrete paradise you've been dreaming of.
