BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Congresswoman Carol Miller was on hand Monday morning at the offices of the Raleigh County Commission to lead a flag and floor speech presentation honoring the late Raleigh County Commission President, Dave Tolliver.

The Congresswoman’s appearance follows a presentation given by Miller earlier this month on the House Floor where she spoke of the lifetime of public service and the legacy left behind by Tolliver

“Dave was an honorable man and a kind man who had a servant’s heart and cared deeply for his community,” Miller said during the House Floor presentation, which was presented during Monday’s ceremony. “I am so grateful I was able to work with him in my capacity as a member of congress.”

Monday’s ceremony saw Tolliver’s family members presented with a flag which had been flown over the United States Capitol to honor the memory of the late Raleigh County Commission President, along with the commitment exhibited during his lifetime to both the United States and to Raleigh County.

“It’s so easy to work with people that are of the same mindset – that we’re here to do good, to make things better. And that is what he always sought to do,” Congresswoman Miller said of her time spent working alongside Tolliver toward the improvement of Raleigh County. “Some of my major interests, particularly with any capital spending that we can do, is on water and sewer, because West Virginia has always needed help with those things. He was a leader, he’d been doing that for years, so he was very easy to work with.”

Members of the Raleigh County Commission will reconvene at the offices of the Raleigh County Commission on Tuesday for the final Regular Session meeting for the month of July. The session will see consideration of the rezone of a Glen Daniel property along with drawdown considerations for various ongoing county projects.
