New Spawn Movie Title Revealed by Jason Blum

Jason Blum has finally revealed the title of the new Spawn movie. This comes almost a decade after a film reboot was announced, which has since faced several production setbacks and development changes.

Though it doesn’t have an exact release date yet, the Blumhouse Productions CEO announced that he and his team are eyeing a 2025 theatrical release date.

What is Jason Blum’s Spawn movie called?

Blum revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that the reboot will be called King Spawn. Scott Silver (Joker), Malcolm Spellman (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier), and Matt Mixon are the reboot’s screenplay writers. You can check out Blum’s post down below:

Jamie Foxx will star as the titular anti-hero, also known as Albert Francis “Al” Simmons. Other details about the reboot, including the stars joining Foxx, remain close to the vest.

“NYPD detective Twitch Williams investigates a series of grisly murder scenes, perpetrated by the mysterious supernatural vigilante Spawn,” the official synopsis for Spawn reboot reads.

During last year’s New York Comic Con (via Bleeding Cool News), Blum teased that the Spawn reboot would be the “Blumhouse version of a superhero movie.”

“Yes, I’m going to bring the Blumhouse edge [to the Spawn movie]. It’s going to be edgy and original as compared to other superhero movies. It’s gonna definitely feel like the Blumhouse version of a superhero movie,” said Blum.

Spawn is based on the Image Comics character of the same name by Todd McFarlane, which debuted back in 1992. It then received a feature film adaptation in 1997, starring Michael Jai White as Spawn. Directed by Mark A.Z. Dippé, the film also starred John Leguizamo, Martin Sheen, and Theresa Randle, among others.

McFarlane was initially attached to direct the new Spawn movie before ultimately stepping down as the reboot’s director. He also wrote the screenplay’s first draft before Silver, Spellman, and Mixon took over.
