LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — While Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer says she’s not leaving Michigan for a national bid for Vice President, she is “fired up” about Vice President Kamala Harris’ bid for the Democratic nomination for President.

In a video posted on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, Whitmer announced she was not only endorsing Harris for her bid for the Presidency but would serve as co-chair of her campaign.

She had served as the co-chair for the Biden/Harris re-election effort. That was tossed out the window on Sunday afternoon when President Joe Biden announced he would not accept the nomination for the Presidency from the Democrats and would not seek re-election.

Shortly after that announcement from Biden, he issued a full-throated endorsement of Kamala Harris, the current Vice President.

Whitmer, whose name has been bandied around in national and Michigan news outlets as a possible Presidential contender or a Vice Presidential choice, rejected plans to challenge Harris on Sunday. On Monday she announced her endorsement of Harris for President.

    Her video followed the announcement.
