Old Farmer's Almanac predicts a cool 2024 fall season is ahead for Ohio

The Old Farmer's Almanac is predicting a cooler than average fall this year for Ohio. The publication also says the majority of the Buckeye State — except for the northwest section of Ohio — will see above average amounts of rain.

The Ohio fall forecast differs than much of the rest of the country, with the Old Farmer's Almanac predicting warmer fall weather elsewhere.

"Your trek to the pumpkin patch may be a bit steamy this year," Almanac meteorologists Bob Smerbeck and Brian Thompson wrote in their long-range forecast. "In fact, it should be quite warm for the western half of the United States!"

The forecast also calls for a busy remainder to hurricane season, as the Almanac predicts the 2024 hurricane count to be higher than last year's.

The Old Farmer's Almanac, which began in 1792, has made a name for itself by providing long-term weather forecasts on an annual basis. The book also gives readers full moon dates, recipes and various self-help tips.
