MARINETTE — Records are always meant to be broken, even one as difficult as shooting the lowest score in the history of Little River Country Club.

Ty Kretz made it look easy.

Kretz etched his name into the record books on Sunday, shooting a new course record and capturing the LRCC Club championship in the process.

Kretz’s record-setting score of 60 is two strokes better than the previous mark of 62, which was held by Andy Cegelski and Jim Wagner.

Showing complete mastery of the greens, Kretz finished under par on nine of LRCC’s 18 holes and finished par on the remaining nine.

He was the only golfer over the course of the tournament to finish with a total score below the course par of 70.

Kretz finished the front-nine six strokes under at 29 and shot four strokes over at 31 on the back-nine.

Kretz captured the Club championship after beating Grant Bauman by 13 strokes. Bauman finished his afternoon three strokes over par at 73.

In the first flight, Kretz’s younger brother, Trey, topped the field two strokes over with a 72.

Connor Eastman breezed to victory in the second flight with a score of 79, putting him five strokes ahead of runner-up Kevin Charlesworth, who turned in a scorecard of 84.

Bryan Knapp (80) edged Jeff Bauman (84) by four strokes to win the third flight.
