The company, which operates both retail and wholesale divisions, plans to shut down its Landover facility by September 30. This closure will impact 141 employees, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification submitted to the Maryland Department of Labor.

A spokesperson for SpartanNash stated, “We regularly assess our supply chain network to find ways to operate more efficiently and effectively. Our recent changes have positioned us to better support our customers and grow. We are committed to making this a smooth transition for our Associates and customers.”

The company plans to redistribute the work from Landover to other East Coast distribution centers and offer affected employees positions at other facilities whenever possible as per bizjournal

Acquired as a merger? There’s the reason. Acquire it then close it down. There’s a pretty good benefit to that and you’ll find it if you look. That’s how they make their money. Ask Trump how he screwed people over doing the same thing
