WASHINGTON, N.C. (WNCT) — Certain water consumers of Beaufort County Northside on Corsica Road are currently experiencing outages and periods of low pressure in the distribution system.

This is due to emergency water line repairs and will be under this advisory until 9 p.m. on Monday. The outage will affect all Beaufort County Water customers on Corsica Road from the intersection of Corsica Road and Slatestone Road.

Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system can increase potential for back siphonage and can welcome bacteria into the water system.

The water system advises that when water is restored for consumers to boil all water used for human consumption including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation, or use bottled water.

Boiling for one minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that might be present in the water. Cloudiness or discoloration could appear when restored as well, but these changes should only temporary.

Refrain from washing laundry if any discolored water is noticeable, as it could stain light-colored clothing.
