    Carter County Schools announce administrative changes for 2024-25 school year

    Carter County Schools announced key administrative changes for the upcoming 2024-25 school year on Monday, July 22.

    Brandon Young will be the new Principal of Happy Valley Middle School. Young brings 22 years of educational experience, having started his career as a 5th-grade teacher in Mitchell County, N.C. After eight years of teaching, he pursued a Master’s degree in school counseling from Western Carolina University and was hired as a school counselor at Cloudland Elementary in 2010. In 2021, he earned a second Master’s degree in educational leadership from Austin Peay State University and served as the assistant principal at Happy Valley Middle School. Most recently, he was the Principal at Valley Forge Elementary School. Young expressed his enthusiasm about returning to the Happy Valley community.

    Amanda Humphrey will take over as Principal at Valley Forge Elementary. Mrs. Humphrey holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from East Tennessee State University and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Austin Peay State University. With over 18 years of experience within the Carter County School District, she began her tenure at Unaka Elementary and moved to Valley Forge in 2014. She has most recently served as the Assistant Principal and RTI & Testing Coordinator at Valley Forge Elementary. Mrs. Humphrey shared her excitement about her new role, stating, “I am excited to serve as Valley Forge Principal and help our students continue to soar!”

    Carter County Schools congratulates these administrators on their new roles and looks forward to their continued support of the students, families, and communities they serve.
