Paradiddle's Cafe to host a campout

WATERLOO — For the first year, Paradiddle’s Cafe will be hosting a campout and movie night. The event is planned for Saturday evening.

Manager Holly Jones, who is planning the event, said this idea came up when she and a teenage employee were brainstorming fun summer activities the cafe could host. The employee suggested a camping night, and event planning began.

Jones said they have hosted movies at Paradiddle’s Cafe before, so they are ready for the campout with a projector and a lineup of classic old movies. The campout will take place in the backyard of Paradiddle’s.

“There’s tons of space for as many tents as we want,” Jones said.

The event is $5 a person to attend, and includes traditional movie snacks like popcorn and candy Saturday evening. There will also be a bonfire in the backyard.

People interested in camping can start pitching tents at 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 28. The campout will last through the night, and Jones said they would love it if people came into the cafe for breakfast in the morning.

“We hope that anyone who shows up will have so much fun, because that’s the main thing,” Jones said.
