JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. — Magic is set to enchant Downtown Jonesborough as the town transforms into a world of wizardry for a special celebration of Harry Potter's birthday on July 27th from 5-9 p.m. Fans of the beloved wizard can purchase tickets now to partake in a host of themed activities, food, and drink tastings.
A Magical Evening Awaits
On the evening of July 27th, Jonesborough will become a haven for Harry Potter enthusiasts. Attendees can immerse themselves in a magical experience with more than 20 treats, drinks, and activity stops. Highlights include sampling "Fizzing Whizzbees" and "Liquid Luck," making wands and joining a sluice hunt for the Sorcerer's Stone. Real live owls will appear, and children can ride the Hogwarts Express, explore Hagrid’s Hut, and discover the secret passage to Diagon Alley.
Ticket Options and Details
Two ticket packages are available. For $20, guests can purchase 10 tickets to enjoy food, drinks, and activities. An additional option includes the same pack of 10 tickets plus 5 alcoholic beverage tickets, ideal for adults wishing to indulge in themed alcoholic drinks. Tickets can be shared among family members or friends, offering flexibility in how attendees experience the event.
Tickets are required for most activities, with some non-ticketed events also available. Early check-in is available from July 24th to 26th at the Visitors Center for those who purchase non-alcohol access packs. Alcohol ticket holders must check in on the event day starting at 4 p.m. in front of the courthouse, where ID verification is required.
Activities and Attractions
One of the standout attractions is the Oak & Thistle Wand Shop, where muggles can make basic wands for free or craft more advanced wands starting at $10. Each wand is unique, allowing participants to select their core type and practice their spellcasting skills.
At the Crooked Broom Tavern, visitors can enjoy non-alcoholic Butterbeer for $5. Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions of Butterbeer will be available at Texas Burritos & More, providing a taste of Hogsmeade's finest brew.
The event also includes a costume contest at 6:15 p.m. in front of the courthouse. Participants can showcase their best Harry Potter-themed attire, and prizes will be awarded to the winners. Following the contest, attendees will sing "Happy Birthday" to Harry Potter and enjoy a complimentary cupcake.
Photo Opportunities and Special Features
Throughout the evening, photo ops abound, including themed sessions at Wild Grove Studios. For $5 per photo or one ticket, participants can receive up to two professionally edited photos. Space is limited to groups of five, ensuring a personalized experience.
Visitors will also discover the entrance to Diagon Alley, nestled between the Silver Raven and Noelle on Main Street. The Howler Delivery & Postal Station, located across from the courthouse check-in table, offers a unique service where guests can purchase a Howler for delivery during the event. The Howler will recite a personalized message, like Ron Weasley's memorable Howler from the series.
