    Mailbag: local Presidential race events

I recieved a question asking if there were any events coming up related to the race for President, which are local. As a political writer, I've seen many candidates for President of the United States on the campaign trail.

The one thing I can say is that you need to keep your ear to the ground, because the events tend to pop up at the last minute. It also helps to be involved in your local political party. I will also add that if you get the opportunity, to go see a candidate, even if you are not in that party and may have already decided how to vote, take the opportunity to see that person in a live event. There's nothing quite like it.

There was recently a watch party. Here is a short piece about the event, from the location's sponsor.

A Republican National Convention watch party event was held at the Frankart Party Barn , near Clyde, on July 18, to see Donald Trump officially nominated as the party's candidate for president.

Approximately 50 Republicans from Sandusky, Erie, and Seneca Counties attended the event.

Seneca County Commissioner Bill Frankart fondly remembered meeting Sen. J. D. Vance, R-Ohio, during his run for the Senate. As a candidate, Vance came to the Frankart Barn for a campaign event.

“It was really great to meet Senator Vance. He’s very humble. He’s just like talking to your next-door neighbor. We were really fortunate to see his leadership skills, and we’re fortunate that he became our senator,” Frankart said.

Frankart also commented on former President Donald Trump.

“We’re thankful that President Trump recognized what kind of leadership skills he has and where he came from to where he is now as he serves our country. We were excited to meet J.D., and it’s exciting that he will possibly be our vice president,” Frankart said.
