Gov. Ned Lamont and Environmental Protection Agency representatives met in New Haven on Monday to announce a series of federal grants the state is being awarded under the
Climate Pollution Reduction Grant program. The program provides $4.6 billion in grants to help state and local governments reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other harmful air pollution. Most notably mentioned was the $450 million grant to accelerate the adoption of affordable electric heat pumps. "Represents five states working together in an unprecedented way. We're going to be bringing together manufacturers through these technologies to work directly with the manufacturers to help buy down the cost of these technologies,” said Katie Dykes, the commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection. Representatives from DEEP also said the department is going to request proposals to coordinate engagement and implement the program across the region. "
