An East Nashville staple event is moving a bit further east.

Nearly a decade after setting up shop at Inglewood's American Legion Post 82 in August 2015, Brendan Malone and Kevin Martin's critically acclaimed and locally beloved Honky Tonk Tuesday Nights event is moving to Eastside Bowl on Aug. 6, 2024.

A press statement about the move notes that the final Honky Tonk Tuesday Nights event at American Legion 82 is scheduled for July 30, 2024.

The event began in 2015 as a quaint recalling of boot-scooting and two-stepping country and Western times past with Malone and Martin's band, The Cowpokes, playing a closing set of honky-tonk tunes. It has evolved into a favorite of country's timeless stars, Americana award-winners and devotees of influences, sounds and styles associated with honky-tonk culture.

Names including Country Music Hall of Famers, Nashville Songwriters Hall of Famers and Grand Ole Opry members like Rodney Crowell, Vince Gill and Emmylou Harris, 2023 Americana Music Association Artist of the Year nominees Charley Crockett, Sierra Ferrell and Margo Price, Grammy winner Kacey Musgraves and Nashville favorites like BR5-49's Chuck Mead were among a who's who of artists who graced the stage at the American Legion for Honky Tonk Tuesday Nights over the years.

Via a press statement, producers Malone and Martin cite Eastside Bowl's "significantly larger capacity and dance floor," plus "three stages, food and acres of free parking" as their most significant reasons for moving to Eastside Bowl.

A 2024 review of the event by the New Haven Independent noted it had recently "seen a big shift, away from its more humble beginnings and toward something borderline chaotic. But it still serves as a community gathering place for many of the various music and dance scenes in Nashville: the country and Americana scenes, most obviously, but certainly not exclusively."

Malone and Martin also note that the event's new location is only two miles north of the American Legion at Gallatin Road's intersection with Briley Parkway. They also add that the event will now welcome attendees 18+ while still offering free admission for United States military veterans and active military.

At Eastside Bowl, programming will remain the same, with dance lessons beginning at 7 p.m., followed by a rotating set of performers and a closing set from house band The Cowpokes. The venue will also host Todd Day Wait's official late-night afterparty formerly held at Inglewood's local bar, The Underdog .
