TNT Sports does not seem to want to give up NBA rights without a fight.

On Monday and in a move in response to the league's 11-year, $76 billion rights deals with Disney, NBC Sports, and Amazon, TNT Sports parent company Warner Bros. Discovery informed the league that it intends to use its matching rights to continue broadcasting NBA games.

According to Andrew Marchand of The New York Times, TNT Sports seems to be targeting the deal signed by Amazon. With that said, though, Marchand reported Monday that the NBA's "preference" appears to be honoring the contract it signed with Amazon.

" While TNT has the contractual right to match an offer, per its current contract, the NBA is expected to decline the network’s right to take the agreed-upon Amazon package," Marchand wrote .

On Monday, TNT Sports issued a statement indicating it had sent matching paperwork to the NBA.

"Regrettably, the league notified us of its intention to accept other offers for the games in our current rights package, leaving us to proceed under the matching rights provision, which is an integral part of our current rights agreement and the rights we have paid for under it,” the TNT Sports statement read. “We have reviewed the offers and matched one of them.

"We look forward to the NBA executing our new contract."

TNT's current media rights deal with the NBA is set to expire after the 2024-25 season.

The league and network have been partners for over three decades.
