English Bulldog's 'Tippy Taps' While Waiting for Automatic Feeder Are a Riot

When hunger strikes, it's hard to wait for mealtime—especially if it's nowhere near time to eat. Just ask Grubbi, an English Bulldog who's absolutely at his limit waiting for the automatic feeder to dispense his food.

In the July 17, 2024 TikTok video shared by Grubbi the English Bulldog ( @heygrubbi ), the "hangry" boy cannot contain his frustration of having to wait for his meal. Granted, he only has one minute to go, but that wasn't enough to stop his cute little tippy taps and stomps!

"His tippy tappy dance stomps takes me out every time," the caption says, in part.

The video is only about 49 seconds but probably feels like an eternity for Grubbi. Though he tips and taps his little paws to get his point across, it doesn't make the food come out any faster (much to his chagrin).

Of the thousands of comments and more than 311,000 likes, Grubbi's devoted followers sided with the hungry Bulldog.

"OMG! This is the longest 1 minute," one person said. "He looks like he'd like to speak to the manager, immediately!," another wrote. "Lil buddy acting like he patiently starving," another added.

Due to the overwhelming response by those asking to see the food disspensed, Grubbi's Mom posted a follow-up video showing exactly that and Grubbi happily chomping away to make up for the torturously long minute he had to wait.

"Here is Part 2 where you can see him *actually* eat," the caption reads. "Grubbi is so happy that his tippy tappies made many people smile."

Are Automatic Dog Feeders Worth the Hype?

In a time when everyone is busy with a million different tasks on any given day, you might be on the lookout for time-saving hacks. Some of the best automatic dog feeders like Grubbi's can be a great way to make sure your dog gets what they need no matter what else is going on.

Dr. Justine Lee, DVM, DACVECC, DABT, says there are pros and cons to having a feeder for your dog , most notably that your dog never misses a feeding and it's the right amount every time, which can be a benefit to those whose dogs are on special diets.

However, it's harder to tell if your dog stops eating, or if another pet (like a cat) is taking part in the food that comes out. Dr. Lee suggests monitoring feedings for a bit, as well as your dog's appetite and interest in food before beginning an automatic feeder so you don't miss important cues about their health or others in the home taking part in the mealtime madness.

Grubbi appears to have a love-hate relationship with his feeder. He loves that it gives him food, but cannot believe the betrayal of having to wait for it! We hear you, Grubbi! Hang in there!
