HARRISBURG, Pa. (WTAJ) — New polling conducted in Pennsylvania shows that the United States is on the “wrong track” and that there is “strong opposition” to government policies designed to ban new gas-powered vehicles.

The polling, fielded in Pa. between June 29 and July 1, was conducted by Remington Research Group. It measured likely voter sentiment around the direction of the country, issue importance, gas-car bands and support for candidates who embrace such polices.

The following are highlights of the poll:

    • Pennsylvanians believe the U.S. is headed in the wrong direction
      • 59% said wrong track
      • 33% said right track
      • 8% said not sure
    • On a generic Congressional ballot, Republicans lead Democrats in Pa.
      • 49% said Republian
      • 47% said Democrat
      • 4% said undecided
    • The majority of likely voters in Pa. oppose gas-car bans
      • 60% said they oppose
      • 20% said they support
      • 21% said they were undecided
    • A supermajority in Pa. reports that a candidate’s position on stopping bans on new gas cars is an important factor in their vote
      • 69% said it is important
      • 14% said it is not important

“This new polling shows a discouraging trend of  Pennsylvanians believing that America is on the wrong track,” Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry President and CEO Luke Bernstein said. “From a business community perspective, these concerns are no doubt exacerbated by burdensome regulations and unpopular policies emanating from Washington. Our national leaders should stand up for consumers and end harmful regulations like the EPA’s gas car ban and others that are detrimental to economic growth.”
