Tolliver passed unexpectedly on June 3, 2024, at the age of 76.

Miller presented Tolliver’s family in attendance with a speech and an American flag to commemorate his years of service in office.

His surviving relatives say it is an honor to say the least.

“It is very humbling. My dad was a great man and so, to see other people honor him and recognize his service is very humbling and it means a lot,” said Tolliver’s daughter, Tammi Beckett.

The American flag Miller gave the family was flown in Tolliver’s honor after his passing.

Miller also made a proclamation on Tolliver’s behalf in the Annals of the Congress and gave the family a copy of her speech she delivered to Congress.

Tolliver was pivotal in bringing water and sewage to Raleigh County.
