EVANSVILLE, In. (WEHT)- Many have questions regarding the safety of fair rides after a young girl fell from the rock-n-roll ride at the Dubois County Fair last week.

Indiana Homeland Security says safety equipment wasn’t secured properly.

The Vanderburgh County Fair President Lee Slater was adamant this fair uses a completely different amusement company.

Brady’s amusements has been a staple of the Vanderburgh county fair for decades, bringing rides and attractions to the Evansville area.
Safety measures are being increased following an incident at the fair in Dubois County.

Slater says, “I met with the owner yesterday kind of went over the safety protocol. We did I have records or he does have records of each April is fully inspected by the state of Indiana that inspection passed.”

The amusement company used the same rides at the Warrick County fair.
Slater says the owner of Brady’s amusements is on site all week, even following workers to make sure safety protocols are being enforced.

Slater says, “Making sure the pans were in place everything was bolted down rid or level. Anything you can think of from the safety precautions he’s on that I have noticed as well. A lot of the rides have signage regarding safety on the ride and so forth.”

Safety precaution signs are in place at each ride.

Signs display ride requirements- making the experience safer for all who choose to participate.

Slater says, “A lot of times if a young member wants to come up and I mean he’s amazed by the ride and wants to join if he’s not quite tall enough not quite big enough to safely ride the ride so you know they won’t let him on the ride at that point.”

The Vanderburgh County Fair does have a plan in place if a ride does malfunction. Slater says the ride will be closed down and inspected until the next day.

However, if a ride remains questionable, the ride will be taken out for the remainder of the week as a safety precaution.
