The late great Chris Cornell’s widow Vicky has been very generous in releasing previously unreleased music recorded by the Soundgarden singer. Just a few days ago, he would have turned 60 years old. His death is still a raw wound for everyone who loved him, including his fans. But at least we can enjoy some unreleased music from Cornell today. That’s all due to Vicky Cornell’s commitment to sharing unreleased tunes from the late singer. In a recent Instagram post, Vicky posted a beautifully-edited reel full of footage of Chris Cornell against an audio clip of him singing Tracy Chapman’s famous song “Fast Car”.

Chapman’s seen a resurgence this year after performing a stunning (and rare) rendition of her famous 1988 song at the 2024 Grammy Awards with country star Luke Combs. It looks like Cornell was a fan.

Just recently, Heart member Nancy Wilson also posted a previously unseen clip of Cornell joining the band for an acoustic side project. They perform a rendition of “Wild Horses” together in honor of Layne Staley during a concert in 1991.

Vicky Cornell Promises To Release More Unreleased Music From Chris Cornell In Addition To “Fast Car”

Vicky penned a heartwarming tribute to Cornell in the Instagram post’s caption. She also teased some more unreleased music from the late singer.

“On his 60th we can all celebrate his genius as an artist who redefined music, but also the incredible man who touched and changed lives,” said Vicky in the post. “He’s an icon, and he gave us all so much — his unique voice, his poetry, his creativity… his life was a gift to so many. And as you can hear — there’s more to come!!!”

It’s good to know that we’ll be able to hear some posthumous music from Cornell. Three years after his death in 2017, Cornell’s estate released a cover album titled No One Sings Like You Anymore. The song was originally recorded the year before Cornell died, and it features a number of Cornell-sung covers of Prince, Janis Joplin, and more.

It’s possible that Vicky is teasing another installment of covers, but we can’t know for sure. Stay tuned, and RIP Chris Cornell. We all miss you dearly.
