Prince Harry’s 4-Word Warning for Olympic Gold Medalist Who Was Spotted Kissing Her Boyfriend in Public

Prince Harry has taken an anti-press stance over the last few years, which has seen him laying out his grievances with the British media in his memoir Spare and suing tabloids for “invading his privacy.”

But even before stepping down as a working member of the royal family, the Duke of Sussex was warning others about what would happen if they did things in public that they wanted to keep a secret.

Back in 2012, London played host to the Summer Olympics . Competing for a medal that year was first-time Olympian Laura Kenny, who was known at the time as Laura Trott.

The cyclist was already a three-time world champion before she won gold for Great Britain in the team pursuit. And while celebrating her achievements at the Games, Laura was photographed kissing her then-boyfriend, fellow Olympic cyclist Jason Kenny.

The photographs were taken before Laura and Jason were ready to go public with their relationship, and Prince Harry warned her that they weren’t going to be able to keep things a secret if they continued showing affection in front of the photogs. Laura remembered Harry’s four words: “You two be careful.”

She told The Times : “Prince Harry was like ‘Ooh you two be careful with all these photographers around’ [and] We were like, ‘They are not going to be interested in us.'”

But turns out the prince was right because within a matter of hours, their pictures were everywhere. Laura recalled: “Next morning, we were all over the newspapers.”

Four years later, Laura and Jason were married in a private ceremony on Sept. 24, 2016, and today they have two children. Jason last competed for a medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which took place in the summer of 2021. With nine medals, he is the most decorated cyclist and British Olympian of all time. And Laura, who has won five medals, announced her retirement from cycling in March 2024, 12 years after her Olympic debut in London.

And speaking of the London 2012 Olympics, photos have resurfaced online of Prince Harry, Prince William, and the Princess of Wales ( formerly known as Kate Middleton ) taking in the Games together.

Britain’s royal family was a big part of the London Games. Who can forget Queen Elizabeth II’s skit with Daniel Craig’s James Bond character when she “parachuted” into the stadium? And after the Opening Ceremony, the then-inseparable trio of William, Kate, and Harry looked happy as can be as they attended a number of events together.

Now, those are all just memories. But X (formerly Twitter) has become a place where fans who want to feel nostalgia and remember happier times are sharing pics of siblings and the princess, knowing that we may never see them together like this again.
