FARMERSBURG, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— The 88 delegates of Indiana voted to endorse Vice President Harris Monday over a zoom call.

After announcing July 21 that President Biden was ending his bid for reelection, Biden endorsed his Vice President Kamala Harris. This left democrats unbound to a specific candidate after delegates had already pledged to support the current president.

Kamala Harris does have some accolades to her name besides serving as the Vice President and now the chief candidate for the Democratic Party. From 2011-2017 Harris served as the Attorney General of California as well as serving on the U.S. Senate from 2017-2021. She claims she is dedicated to continuing her previous support of President Biden’s ideals, most specifically championing reproductive justice and gun violence prevention.

“Vice President Kamala Harris has already made history by serving in our nation’s second-highest office. She is tenacious, skilled, and powerful, and we are proud to endorse her as the next President of the United States so that she can continue the legacy of unprecedented job growth, historically low unemployment, and fighting for reproductive freedom in all 50 states,” Indiana Democratic Party Chair Mike Schmuhl said.
