‘Bad Boys Ride or Die’ Comes To Digital, But When Will ‘Bad Boys 4’ Be Streaming on Netflix?

Those bad boys better figure out what they are going to do ASAP, because Bad Boys: Ride or Die , aka Bad Boys 4 , is coming to digital platforms tomorrow.

Starting tomorrow, July 23, Bad Boys 4 will be available to buy or rent online. Sony announced the digital release of the film today, a little over a month after Bad Boys: Ride or Die opened in theaters, on June 7. Directed by Belgian filmmakers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (who also directed 2020’s Bad Boys For Life ), this fourth installment in the Bad Boys franchise once again stars Will Smith as Det. Lt. Michael Eugene “Mike” Lowrey, and Martin Lawrence as his partner and BFF, Det. Lt. Marcus Miles Burnett. This time around, the Miami boys are on a quest to clear the name of their late Captain Conrad Howard (played by Joe Pantoliano), who’s been blamed for a crime he didn’t commit. They can’t let that stand!

Also starring Joe Pantoliano, Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Paola Núñez, Jacob Scipio, John Salley, and DJ Khaled, Bad Boys: Ride or Die was met with lukewarm reviews from critics, but was a box office success, earning over $388 million worldwide. You may be wondering why, then, Sony would rush the movie to VOD after just a month and a half in theaters. In fact, about a month and a half—or around 45 days— is the new norm for theatrical runs in these post-pandemic days.

Beginning on Tuesday, July 23, Bad Boys: Ride or Die will be available to buy and rent digitally on Amazon Prime , Apple TV, Vudu, and more. The price may vary depending on which platform you use to purchase the film, but on Amazon Prime the movie will cost $19.99 to rent, and $24.99 to buy. If you rent the movie, you will have a 48-hour window to watch it after you hit “play.”

If you buy a digital copy of Bad Boys: Ride or Die , you’ll also get some with bonus features with your purchase, including a blooper reel, deleted scenes, and a brand-new Bad Boys: Ride or Die after credits scene. The digital extras also include the following special features: “Will & Martin Chemistry, Legacy & Laughs;” “The Bruckheimer Legacy: Crafting Bad Boys & Beyond;” “Fights, Camera, Action;” and “Partners in Crime.”

The Bad Boys: Ride or Die DVD release date has not yet been announced.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die is not currently streaming free on any of the subscription-based streaming services. However, if you don’t want to pay to buy or rent the movie, we do expect to see Bad Boys 4 streaming on Netflix in the near future.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die will likely be on Netflix sometime this fall. Netflix has a deal with Sony Pictures that gives the streamer the rights to the Sony movies in the “Pay 1” window, meaning the first streaming window after the film’s home media release. Other recent Sony movies, including The Pope’s Exorcist and No Hard Feelings came to Netflix about four months after opening in theaters. Madame Web , however, came to Netflix just three months after it opened in theaters. Sony’s most recent movie, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire , came to Netflix on July 22—about four months after the movie opened in theaters.

If Bad Boys: Ride or Die follows this same release pattern, you can expect Bad Boys: Ride or Die to stream on Netflix around September 2024 (three months after the movie opened in theaters) or October 2024 (four months after the movie opened in theaters).
