The San Francisco 49ers have appeared in two Super Bowls over the past five years.

With both trips having ended the same way, in losses to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, the 49ers likely won't be content with simply playing in the big game this coming season. That is, of course, should they win the NFC for a second straight year.

49ers veterans are slated to report to training camp on Tuesday, joining the team's rookies who arrived last week. On Monday, San Francisco's five-time Pro Bowl tight end George Kittle joined Ian Rapoport and 'The Insiders' to share his mindset heading into his eighth NFL campaign.

It's safe to say the Niners' tight end is ready to get back on the field.

"I get to play football again, and I’m very excited about it," Kittle said.

Kittle, 30, was named a First-Team All-Pro for the second time in his NFL career last season. In 16 regular season starts, he recorded 65 receptions for 1,020 yards and six touchdowns.

He also helped the 49ers secure a victory over the Packers in the divisional round of the playoffs with four receptions for 81 yards and a touchdown.

Kittle and the 49ers will open the 2024 NFL season with a Week 1 matchup against Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets.
