DICKINSON COUNTY, Iowa (KCAU) — Last week, Dickinson County was officially added to a disaster proclamation after last month’s floods. FEMA is now stepping in to help.

FEMA is currently going door-to-door in Dickinson County in areas affected by the floods. Workers want people to know they will have a badge and will wear a FEMA shirt.

The workers are registering people to get more disaster relief from the government. One FEMA member, Tiana Suber, talked about some of the support they will provide to the flood victims.

“We are providing rental assistance, we are providing housing assistance, we are providing personal property damage, we are providing displacement if you’ve been displaced from your home and you’re living with currently your family or you’re staying in a hotel, or anything like that,” Suber said. “We will help you with that as well.”

FEMA will continue going door-to-door trying to help as many people as possible in the flood-affected area. For more information about FEMA and disaster assistance, click here .
