WWE Summerslam 2024: CM Punk medically cleared, Drew McIntyre reinstated, Seth Rollins bombshell

He’s back, again. CM Punk took to the ring on Monday night to deliver bombshell news on WWE RAW and, while it wasn’t entirely unexpected, it was welcomed nonetheless — considering how close he is medically cutting it to Summerslam on Aug. 3 in Cleveland.

The Second City Saint has been medically cleared for physical action, he announced.

That means, as it went on to be revealed, that his looming match with Drew McIntyre is officially on the books for WWE in less than two weeks from Punk’s announcement, but that’s not the only news to filter out of Green Bay on Monday.

The match will feature a special guest referee, and it’s someone who has plenty of reason to try and steal the show during the headline fight: Seth “Freaking” Rollins.

“I’m not a problem guy,” said Rollins. “I’m a solution guy. I know a guy who thrives on chaos. And I know a guy that would love nothing more than to put the two of you in your places. He is a Visionary. He is a Revolutionary.

“And at Summerslam, he is your special guest referee. He is Seth ‘Freaking’ Rollins!”

With that, it’s all systems go for Punk and McIntyre, the latter having his suspension removed by general manager Adam Pearce, and Cleveland is gonna host a war.
