LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Democrats across the country are gearing up for the Democratic National Convention, the 2024 election and a change in nominees.

Arkansas Democratic delegates officially voted to back Kamala Harris after a private meeting Monday night.

Before their vote, Democratic state legislators spoke out on the race and their public support for Harris.

“I will tell you as a Democrat I could not be happier than I am with where we stand right now,” State Rep. Nicole Clowney (D-Fayetteville) said.

State Sen. Greg Leding also weighed in, pointing to the growing sense of confidence and unity in the party over the last 24 hours.

“At worst we’re exactly where we were, which is neck and neck,” Leding said. “This was always going to be a tight race. We all know it’s going to come down to a handful of key swing states so it’s going to be close.”

Capitol View host Roby Brock added that while the circumstances aren’t unprecedented, given President Johnson’s withdrawal from the race in 1968, the timing of Biden pulling out is unlike what has ever been seen.
