Indiana 2024 ILEARN results show some increases, slips for Delaware County schools

MUNCIE, Ind. — 2024's ILEARN testing showed varied results across Delaware County schools, but most overall scores were comparable to statewide averages, with test results largely similar to those reported in 2023.

Statewide results released Wednesday by the Indiana Department of Education showed 41% of Hoosier students were proficient in English Language Arts standards and 40.7% proficient in math standards, while 30.8% are proficient in combined math and English.

What is ILEARN?

First implemented in 2019 to replace ISTEP testing, ILEARN serves as the state's accountability test, assessing students in grades 3-8 in English and math. ILEARN also tests fourth- and sixth-grade students in science and tests fifth-grade students in social studies.

The ILEARN assessments are taken by students in person on computers, adapting to the student as the test progresses.

How did Delaware County students do in English?

Muncie Community Schools came in at 21.3%, which was an increase from 2023's testing at 20.5%.

Del-Com School Corp.'s average was at 47.0%, a slight increase from 2023 at 46.7%.

Wes-Del School Corp.'s average was 39.6%, down slightly from 39.8% in 2023.

Liberty-Perry School Corp. came in at 55.4%, a slight decrease from 55.5% in 2023.

Cowan School Corp.'s average was 38%, up significantly from 30.5% in 2023.

Yorktown Community Schools came in with an average of 46.7%, an increase from 45.9% in 2023.

Daleville Community School's average was 27.7 percent, up slightly from 27.3 percent in 2023.

How did Delaware County students do in math?

Muncie Community Schools came in at 21.9%, an increase from 2023's testing at 21.2%.

Del-Com School Corp.'s average was at 50.6%, an increase from 2023 at 49%.

Wes-Del School Corp.'s average was 42.4%, down from 45% in 2023.

Liberty-Perry School Corp. came in at 62.2%, a slight decrease from 62.9% in 2023.

Cowan School Corp.'s average was 43.9%, up significantly from 36.6% in 2023.

Yorktown Community Schools came in with an average of 49.3%, a decrease from 52% in 2023.

Daleville Community School's average was 41.1 percent, up from 39.8 percent in 2023.
