Seasonal day with more hazy sunshine. Trending even cooler by late week.

The Oregon DEQ has issued an Air Quality Advisory in Morrow and Umatilla counties until further notice.

Today : Tuesday will be a day with more hazy sunshine, although lighter haze overall. In a nice change of pace, we’ll finally have some seasonal highs! It should be in the 70s in the mountains, with low to mid-90s for the Kittitas/Yakima valleys, the Lower Columbia Basin, and the foothills of the Blues. Winds won’t be nearly as gusty as Monday, although northwesterly gusts could still gust up to 25 MPH in the Kittitas Valley. Although winds will be a bit lighter today, there will still be the risk for fires to start and spread quickly. Fire fuel energy, compared to historical data, will be in the 99th percentile–just about as dry as our fuels could get.

Tonight : Haze will linger this evening with seasonal overnight lows. Lows will drop down into the upper-40s in the Cascades, with mid to upper-50s for the Kittitas/Yakima valleys, and the Lower Columbia Basin. Expect low to mid-60s in the foothills and the Blue Mountains. Winds will still be light for most spots, although once again, they could gust out of the northwest up to 25 MPH in the Kittitas Valley.

Extended : We’re eyeballing another small lightning chance for Wednesday afternoon/evening–specifically for the Blue Mountains. There’s a similar chance for Sunday, but that’s too far out to say anything definitive. In terms of high temperatures, we’ll keep it hot and fairly seasonal overall. However, Thursday and Friday could provide some nice breaks. Highs will be about 5 degrees below average by then, placing the Tri-Cities in the upper-80s.
