Over the first half of the WNBA season, Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark has proven that she belongs . Any doubt as to whether her iconic college career would be able to translate to the professional level has now been quashed thanks to her incredible debut campaign -- one that has already earned her the honor of being named a WNBA All-Star in his first season in the league.

One player who blazed a path before Clark's arrival is soon-to-be Hall of Famer Candace Parker, who recently retired from the game after a decorated 16-year career.

Having gone through immense pressure in her own WNBA journey, the former No. 1 overall pick spoke honestly about what she feels would be the toughest part of Clark's career.

"The mental element of basketball is what’s the hardest to master," Parker told Marc J. Spears of Andscape. "I’m sure a lot of you caught her game last night. I mean, she’s adjusting really well.

"... It’s hard to have the bullseye on your back, not just from the standpoint of everybody looking at you, but also as a teammate trying; it is a team sport, so you’re the one that always constantly has to remind people like, ‘Hey Aliyah [Boston], set that screen.’"

Speaking from her own personal experience, Parker is very familiar with the challenges a superstar must face day in and day out. However, the three-time WNBA champion is adamant that Clark has it in her to thrive in these demanding circumstances.

"It’s difficult and people have different feelings about it. So, it’s a hard weight, hard burden to carry, but she’s doing a great job," Parker said.
