The 3 Zodiac Signs That Are Stuck in the Past

Is obsessing over the past always a bad thing? I’ve recently become fixated on the concept of neural nostalgia . It’s the idea that listening to music that you enjoyed as a teenager can actually rewire your adult brain. It can calm your nerves, ease your pains, and even improve your health. That being said, there are some of us who know when to utilize Ben Folds’ Songs for Silverman to get us out of a rut, and others among us who have been listening to the same emo playlist on repeat since 2006. And let’s not even talk about how that playlist is just a symptom of a larger problem. Whether it’s constantly pining for the “glory days” of college or early adulthood, fixating on a prehistoric relationship or missing a cute dress from 2014, there’s some people who don’t just visit the past, they’re homeowners there. Here’s our take on the three zodiac signs so stuck in the past that they’re likely to have property in their literal or figurative hometown.

    1. Cancer (June 21 to July 22)

The moon is the planet that rules over memory in astrology, and Cancer—the sensitive, cardinal water sign—is ruled by the moon. So you might say: Cancers are ruled by their memories. This is a blessing and a curse. Cancers are the friend group historians, always able to pull up the dates and locations of important shared events. Trying to remember what month you had that hot hookup on vacation in Rome? Or pinpoint the location of your 24th birthday party so you can see if that bar still exists? Don’t worry, your Cancer friend remembers all the details. But having such a strong memory can keep Cancers stuck in that vivid imagery of the past and leave them feeling uninspired about the future.

    2. Taurus (April 20 to May 20)

I’ve never met a Taurus who isn’t a bit of a nostalgia demon. A Taurus is a bull out to pasture, but usually, they’re unimpressed by the current landscaping and wishing it was the same field that was here ten years ago. I have a Taurus friend who I’ve known for over a decade now, and around the time we met, I was going through a pretty rough time. She knows this, and yet, she’s always waxing poetic about those halcyon days in our mid 20’s. Part of the obsession with the past for Taurus is that they see it as something that is purely defined and solid. What earth signs crave more than anything. The future is unknown and the present is too wobbly to keep a Taurus comfortable. We also already discussed that the moon is the planet that rules over memory in astrology, and do you know what sign the moon is exalted in? Where it’s an honored guest at the party? That’s right, Taurus. Of course Tauruses get stuck in the past, they thrive there!

    3. Scorpio (October 22 to November 21)

Like their fellow water sign Cancer, Scorpios feel it all. But unlike Cancer, a sign where the memory planet moon is at home, Scorpio is the sign where the moon is in the sign of her fall , meaning that she’s not as naturally talented at her job. This doesn’t mean Scorpios are bad at lunar things though (like caring for the body and home and tapping into an emotional center), it means they work harder than most to develop a high level of skill. Scorpios aren’t naturally nostalgia sponges but they spend their whole life trying to become better at it. This is especially true when it comes to seeing all sides of a situation, not just the more intense or painful sides of things. (Yes, Scorpio is in fact the most likely to still have that emo playlist from 2006 on repeat).
