Harley Quinn’s spin-off series Kite Man: Hell Yeah! has premiered. Apart from the show’s captivating storyline, there is one change that intrigues the viewers. It is none other than the recasting of Lex Luthor’s voice artist. As we are aware, Giancarlo Esposito was Luthor’s original voice artist in Harley Quinn. However, the late Lance Reddick was roped in to voice the iconic villain. So, why was Kite Man’s Lex Luthor’s original voiceover replaced?

Why Lance Reddick replaced Giancarlo Esposito to voice Lex Luthor in Kite Man: Hell Yeah!?

In an interview with Direct , show creator Dean Lorry confirmed the reason behind the recast was scheduling. He further mentioned Lance Reddick was the perfect choice for Lex Luthor.

Kite Man: Hell Yeah!’s creator, Dean Lorry, addressed the development in an interview with Direct. He said, “It was scheduling. I mean, Giancarlo Espisito was great. We weren’t looking to replace him. He was wonderful. I couldn’t believe he agreed to do it, to begin with, as a ‘Breaking Bad’ fan… But for Lance, when we had to find a new Lex, he ended up being perfect, and he brought something different to the role. I thought he brought a greater gravity and a seriousness to it that I loved and Giancarlo was a little more of a businessman, they were both great, they were just different. And we were really heartbroken when we learned what happened with Lance.”

Additionally, Giancarlo Esposito ‘s replacement prevented a Breaking Bad reunion. We all remember Jonathan Banks playing the ally Mike Ehrmantraut to Esposito’s Gus Fring in the Breaking Bad franchise. He is also a part of Kite Man, voicing the character of Noonan, the original pub owner. Fans would have loved to see the duo reuniting for the popular series as voice artists.
