CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — EnChroma viewer scopes, which reportedly assist colorblind visitors to see more vibrant colors, will be installed at every Virginia State Park.

This comes through a partnership between Virginia State Parks and EnChroma in an effort to make the colors of parks more accessible to people with colorblindness.

This makes Virginia State Parks the first in the U.S. to install the viewers at every park.

“While people with normal color vision see over one million shades and hues, those with color vision deficiency only see up to 10% of colors. To them, red looks brown, green looks tan, yellow or gray, and purple looks blue,” said a spokesperson for the Department of Conservation and Recreation.

To view how the park appears for a colorblind person without and with the viewer scope, visit the department’s website .
