Twin Mom Shamed For Giving One Baby 'Cute' Name And Other A 'Terrible' One

One of the hardest decisions soon-to-be-parents need to make is what to name their child, and that choice is doubly difficult for anyone expecting twins. However, getting to pick two names instead of one does provide an opportunity to do something unique. While giving twins rhyming names seems to have fallen out of favor, there are other creative ways to name them, including with alliteration. That's the route one twin mom is considering, but she's chosen a lovely name for one twin and a rather questionable one for the other.

The woman's niece took to Reddit to explain what's going on, saying how her aunt said if the twins wind up being a girl and a boy, she plans to name the female Violet, like the flower, and to pay homage to the babies' grandmother, who played the viola, she'll name the male Violance, pronounced like "violence." The niece said her aunt just "couldn't seem to grasp" what the problem is with a name like Violance, nor could she see the effect it might have on the boy. The aunt stated, "He could just go by Lance if it's such a big deal."

Commenters felt pretty much how you'd expect them to, calling Violet "cute" and Violance "terrible." One person wrote, "Violet is fine but Violence is dumb. Not sure who came up with the expectation that twins would get similar or rhyming names but it is stupid. Just give your kids names that don’t get them and you bullied." Another asked, "She wants to name a son Violence?! (The 'a' won’t change how it’s read). Does she want to raise a serial killer?"

As for if the aunt winds up with twin daughters, they would be Alyja, pronounced "Elijah," and Avanue, pronounced "Avenue." The niece was so taken aback by the first sets of names that she didn't even ask what twin boys would be called. No word yet on if the aunt has been convinced to change the potential names, but you can stay up to date on the post on Reddit.
