HUDSON COUNTY, NJ - Hudson County residents will soon have access to a new visual arts and creative movement program thanks to a $35,000 grant from the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs Recreational Opportunities for Individuals with Disabilities Grant Program. The Hudson County Board of Commissioners recently approved the acceptance of this grant, which will fund the Hudson County Holistic Immersion Program.

The program aims to serve approximately 100 residents, both with and without disabilities, providing opportunities for creative expression, social interaction, and artistic achievement. Participants will explore various forms of art media, including ceramics, canvas, and clay, and engage in creative movement activities such as yoga and dance. They will also learn traditional and adaptive karate techniques and attend an educational field trip.

Individuals with disabilities will have the option to collaborate with a caregiver or parent on their projects, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. The program will be implemented by the Educational Arts Team and Kennedy Dancers Inc., two local organizations dedicated to promoting artistic development and inclusive programming.

Additionally, up to twenty youths, ages 6-15, will have the chance to participate in Camp Liberty, a summer camp that offers an outlet for artistic expression and creative growth.
