Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Inc. issued a recall for some of its Potassium Chloride Extended-Release Capsules over a "failed dissolution" that may cause heart attacks.

A combined 135 batches of capsules are being pulled back from consumers because the flawed medication could lead to cardiac arrest, according to officials.

Glenmark Pharmaceuticals recalled 114 batches of potassium chloride extended-release capsules and American Health Packaging — on behalf of BluePoint Laboratories — recalled 21 batches of the same capsules last week.

The voluntary recall was issued because of the failed dissolution of the capsules, which could possibly lead to high potassium levels also known as hyperkalemia, according to the companies’ announcements posted by the US Food and Drug Administration.

A New York company has recalled 40 types of bagged spinach after traces of listeria were found in a batch. 

Solata Foods, LLC. of Newburgh, New York, which operates seven different brands of produce, has issued a recall of its line of “fresh spinach” products, distributed locally in retail stores, according to the Food and Drug Administration. 



The batch was sold as spinach and salad mixes in various sizes across several brand names, such as Solata, Gaia, Uncle Vinny’s, Full Circle, Bogopa, Famer Direct and more.
