Russell Martin's Southampton is gearing up for their return to the Premier League after a thrilling promotion campaign last season, and the club is keen on bolstering its squad with summer signings to tackle the challenges that lie ahead.

With the departure of Scotland international Che Adams, who left St Mary's to join Serie A side Torino on a free transfer, the Saints are now prioritizing the acquisition of a prolific striker.

Adams played a pivotal role in their promotion, netting 16 goals in the Championship, making it essential for Southampton to find a capable replacement quickly.

According to reports from Football Insider, Southampton has set its sights on West Brom striker Brandon Thomas-Asante.

The 25-year-old, who has a year left on his contract at the Hawthorns, could be available for the right price if West Brom fails to secure a new deal for him.

Ironically, West Brom finished in the Championship's top six last season but fell short in the play-off semi-finals against Southampton, who are now looking to snatch their starting striker.

Thomas-Asante, who made the leap from League Two's Salford City, adapted well to the Championship, featuring in 41 matches last season, scoring 11 goals and providing two assists. If the rumors hold true, he could be on the verge of making another step up in his career this summer.
