    Health officials: West Nile virus, eastern equine encephalitis detected in Cape May County

    Cape May County officials are reminding residents to take precautions against mosquito-borne diseases after officials say they detected seven mosquitoes with West Nile virus in June and July. The areas that tested positive for the virus include Upper Township, Cape May City, the borough of Woodbine and Lower Township. Officials say they also found one mosquito with eastern equine encephalitis in Lower Township. There are no reported human cases in Cape May County this year. The Department of Mosquito Control says it will continue to spray affected areas. More information on mosquito borne diseases is available at
