Kate Jackson began her acting career as a silent ghost on TV's classic 1960s gothic daytime drama Dark Shadows but remains alive and well years after two horrific battles with breast cancer. Jackson went on to small screen prime-time stardom on police/detective/crime drama/comedies like The Rookies, Charlie's Angels, Scarecrow and Mrs. King, and more. This is her triumphant story.

    A Closer Look

In January 1987, Kate Jackson was diagnosed with breast cancer. The actress underwent a lumpectomy and radiation treatment, which she assumed eliminated the disease.

However, in 1989, the cancer made a devastating return. But that did not stop Jackson, who underwent a second surgery and was once again declared cancer-free - and that second time it stuck.

Upon her initial diagnosis in January, Jackson had been working on her third hit television show Scarecrow and Mrs. King. She was granted the day off work when a casting colleague caught the flu. That day, the actress went for a mammogram sensing something might be wrong.

One year later, Jackson healed from the initial struggle with cancer and went on to star in a 1989 TV adaptation of the Baby Boom feature film.

Sadly, two years after that, Jackson discovered a second cluster of cancer cells in her left breast following a periodical mammogram.

Fortunately, the talented performer recovered from that second battle with cancer, and going strong today.

In the past year, Jackson has made two significant public appearances for the first time in years.

First, she attended a family wedding hosted by former Charlie's Angels co-star Jaclyn Smith, and then made a surprise appearance at a special 40th Anniversary fan celebration of Scarecrow and Mrs. King.

    A Triumphant Actress

Kate Jackson remains one of the most popular actresses in the history of pop culture and entertainment.
